Does an Apostille require the original or a copy?
Cluster: Apostille and legalisation
The MFA accepts Apostilles on both originals and Notary Certified True Copies, but some destinations (e.g. USA for birth or marriage certificates) demand the original. We check the destination rule every time. If Apostilling a copy is preferred, we notarise the CTC first and the MFA Apostille then covers the CTC (not the original).
